Vernissage 2009
The next stop in the dense train of events which Mercator College enjoyed this Spring was the Mercator Art Contest - the traditional, yet new every single time, official "opening" of the latest art pieces you can find around your favorite college, this year it took place on Friday, March 27th, 2009. The dust had not quite settled over the common room after a a rather hectic day of heavy preparations, when the first guest started to arrive.
The turnout was quite impressive as compared to previous events of this kind. This was perhaps due to the wonderful cozy candle – lit atmosphere that the college team set up or the sparkling wine, soft drinks and snacks that were on offer. After people had taken their time to walk around and see the art pieces it was time to announce the winners. Vikram and Niky, our college masters, then duly obliged announcing Autun Purser's 'The Painted Lady' as the winner of this year's contest.
The art pieces will be exhibited in the common room for the next three days before being put around the college for everyone's viewing pleasure. To see pictures from this event click here. Also available are photos from last November's vernissage here.
