Bella Italia!
The semester kicked off to a Pizzery start with the Italian Night on Friday 6th February. As the first event of the spring semester, its sole purpose is to bring a little bit of the Italian culture to the confines of Mercator. Italian music, pizza, pasta, lasagna (my personal favorite!) and of course to top it all off – Italian Wine were on offer.
It was at times hilarious as people got their hands in the dough and the spicy add on ingredients. Even more critical was the fight of who gets space in the oven first! In the end, everyone was more than satisfied with what they had made judging by the enticing looking pizzas that eventually came out of the oven!!.
The most interesting part of the evening came when the new Mercatorians in the just arrived Lafayette students and the new Resident Associates were officially knighted with the traditional ‘blue dot’ and the ‘sword – on - the shoulders’ routine. At last, they can also boast to be true Mercatorians! We’d like to warmly welcome you to Europe guys.
